they quickly excited the course area and laughed as they made their way back the way they had previously come.

“that was fun,” sutton said as they neared the food vendors.

“yeah! hungry?” taylor asked as they walked beside each other. sutton draped her arm around his waist and leaned on him.

“definitely. let’s go get some dinner,” she grinned as he put his arm around her shoulder. “i’ve had so much fun today,” she commented.

“me too. its more fun when you go to amusement parks with only like one other person, you can do more stuff.”

“have you seriously had fun?” sutton asked.

“yes!”

“even though I made you ride the swinging trees twice? aand you are going on the merry go round and the ferris wheel with me?”

“yes, sutton,” he grinned and pulled her towards him in an embrace. “i’ve had a ton of fun. now what do you want to eat?” he asked, and pulled out his wallet.

“i can pay some, too,” sutton said and reached into her back pocket.

“no, that’s okay,” taylor smiled and pulled out ten bucks from his wallet, and stood in the shortest line. “do you want a hot dog? that looks like about all they have that’s appetizing.”

“sure. thank you.”

“fries? we can share.” taylor asked as he neared the front of the line. sutton nodded, and said,

“i’ll go find a table. look for me,” she said and brushed past him into the center of the park, filled with tables and plastic chairs that were nearly all full. she quickly found a small table in the corner next to a large potted plant, and sat in one of the chairs. taylor wandered over to her a couple minutes later with a tray filled with two hot dogs, two drinks and a large basket of fries. sutton reached for a hot dogs and took a big bite.

“mmm,” she grinned and closed her eyes. “i love amusement park food. its so greasy and gross and fattening but its so good.”

“this is like, the best food.” taylor agreed as he squirted ketchup on his hot dog and took a big bite, and rested his hot dog on the tray. “my theory is, you might as well enjoy all of this kind of food when you’re young, cos you know when you get older like my parents you’ll never like, come to an amusement park to even be able to get a big greasy hot dog or fries like this,” he explained as he popped a fry in his mouth. sutton looked at him and started laughing once he had finished his speech. “what?!” he cried.

sutton ate a fry and covered her mouth as she laughed, and threw her head back against her chair.

“what?!” taylor repeated.

sutton grabbed a napkin from the metal dispenser to her right and leaned across the table and pressed it against taylor’s face as she laughed. “you have like, a ketchup mustache taylor!”

taylor quickly wiped his face and resumed eating as he threw the dirty napkin at sutton. “thanks, dear,” he said sarcastically as sutton threw the napkin back at him and reached for a couple fries.

“at least i told you, geez,” she smiled and finished her hot dog.

“yeah, yeah,” taylor said and glanced at his watch as he finished eating.

“i thought you were having fun, taylor.”

“i am! i was just seeing what time it was.”

“what time is it?”

“5:30,” he answered.

“already? wow.” she said. “it should be getting dark at soon.”

“yeah, help me eat these fries so we can get going. i’m sure the line to the merry go round is pretty long. its in big demand, you know.”

sutton rolled her eyes as she consumed the fries.
